Too Young

Too Young

Just a child out playing by himself with his toy gun
Perhaps playing cops and robbers as so many children have done
No child going out to play should be shot and left to die his face lying against the cold cold ground
While he bled to death his killers just stood around

Too young too young to die like this
Never again to be held by his father or feel his mother’s kiss
Too young too young to die like this
In less than two seconds he was taken from our mist
Too young too young to die like this

Feel, yes feel, the pain and sadness of his mother’s cry
Feel, yes feel, the rage of his father as he’s left to ponder why
Think, yes think’ about if this happened to your son
Think, yes think’ about how to prevent our sons from being shot down by the gun

Too young, too young to die like this
Never again to be held by his father or feel his mother’s kiss
Too young too young to die like this
In less than two seconds he was taken from our mist
Too young too young to die like this

Do you believe if this child was not black but white instead
And all things being equal would have wound up dead
Whites kill young black males and they say it’s not a racial thing
No, No you can no longer urinate on us and think we’ll believe its rain

Too young, too young to die like this
Never again to be held by his father or feel his mother’s kiss
Too young too young to die like this
In less than two seconds he was taken from our mist
Too young too young to die like this

This child’s life was ended he’ll never have children of his own
His rights to liberty and his pursuit of happiness are now painfully gone
No graduation no date to the prom or just hanging out with his friends
Justice denied some is justice denied all this senseless killing must come to and end

Too young, too young to die like this
Never again to be held by his father or feel his mother’s kiss
Too young too young to die like this
In less than two seconds he was taken from our mist
Too young too young to die like this

12 year old life ended and already being laid to rest
Once again our justice system will be put to the test
The people are in the streets protecting against this wrong
Yet some continue to blame the victims singing that same old song

Too young too young to die like this
Never again to be held by his father or feel his mother’s kiss
Too young too young to die like this
In less than two seconds he was taken from our mist
Too young too young to die like this
