The Hardest Political Reality I’ve Ever Had To Face…

I started writing this blog on September 4, 2014; my first post was on Ferguson, Missouri and the shooting death of Mike Brown. I wrote 16 more post up until my last post on March 5, 2016, Trump and the Media play the KKK card. The initial intent of my blog was to be a part time hobby to fill my time as I transitioned into retirement. Traveling, golfing and bowling were not enough to occupy me after 5 years of retirement. I selected subject matter I found of interest, created my blog site and exercised my creative writing skills as to my thoughts on the selected subjects. I intentionally kept readership to a minimum mainly friends and family to get feedback on the subject matter and my skill level as a writer.

During this period, the Presidential race was heating up, spring and summer was just around the corner and golf season was on the horizon. I reduced my intake of the daily political news. Frankly, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were starting to anger me and I had already decided to Support Bernie Sanders. I supported the Sanders campaign financially as well as volunteering time. However, when I showed up at campaign headquarters to volunteer, I found the operation to be somewhat lacking with respect to diversity and organization. But, I found his messaging favorable in comparison to Donald Trump’s message of division through hatred and Hillary’s lukewarm message of stronger together. Democrats have been pushing that message since the 60’s to garner minority support. Of the three candidates, I found Sander’s messaging to be the most optimistic. There was nothing about Trump’s campaign I found to be positive or inclusive. Trump’s messaging was divisive and despicable. His theme reeked of fascism with an alt-right wing neo-Nazi directive. Let me be clear, this messaging didn’t just start with Trump.

If we go back to the election of President Barack Obama in 2008, there was an immediate white lash to his election. Republicans fell heavy under the influence of obstruction and walked in lock step to halt any progress of the Obama Presidency. Right-wingers in the party began to move further and further to the right with messaging coming from radio and social media spokes persons such as Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, Sean Hannity, Steve Bannon just to name a few. Members in the party Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, Lindsey Graham, John McCain and others pushed and agenda to lay everything wrong in America or ever going to be wrong at the feet of America’s first Black President. Not to be left out, Trump stoking the flames of President Obama’s illegitimacy to the Presidency “Mr. Birther”. They even found fault in his stimulus package, which saved the country from the greatest financial debacle since the great depression. The blame game, false narratives and propaganda led them to control the House of Representatives, Senate and the White House. The only way to halt this movement is through the voices and actions of the people. We can no longer sit idly by and expect someone else to do the work. It’s up to us as individuals to roll up our sleeves and get involved. To quote an almost forgotten activist from the past Malcolm X: “by any means necessary.” Call your local political leaders, visit their offices, write, speak out, march, and financially support activist organizations that mirror your beliefs.

We are now into the first 100 days of the new administration and the immediate reactions appears to be revolting in nature. In my future posts, I cannot in good conscious refer to Donald Trump as the President. I find that would be demeaning to the previous men who have held the highest position in our democracy. Nixon, Regan, the Bushes and Clinton may have challenged the fiber of our democratic process at times, however Trump; I believe is trying to move the country from a free democracy to a fascist state. All indicators thus far are pointed in that direction. I will in no way attempt to normalize his Presidency therefore when referenced in future posts he will be identified as “that dude”, or Herr Trump. I, like Rep. John Lewis do not accept his presidency as credible. However, I do realize he is the President of the United States of America.

It’s a fact that the Republicans support of Trump was primary in his being elected the 45 President of the United States of American however; there were 2.8 million Americans that voted against him. Million of American didn’t vote for whatever their reasons. Clearly, America was primed for change. Regardless, we are faced with an Administration that resembles a Coup rather than a transfer from one Democratic Party to another. Every move made by this Administration has been seated in deception and delegitimizing institutions established for checks and balances within a Democracy, the greatest of these the Press, FBI and CIA.

As in latter posts, I will support my positions with facts as reported and researched from reputable news media. No data will be used as facts from well-circulated tabloid such as the National Enquirer, People Magazine and others. The news moves so rapidly and the subject matter related to Race and Politics is broad, I will select topics I hope have the greatest interest and concerns of the public. If you as a reader would like to submit subject matter material or would like your written opinions to be posted on this site you can send your request to wmurff6494@aol.com. They will receive a fair review and if not found suitable you will receive a reply and an explanation as to why the post was rejected. I will post to this site at a minimum of one post per month. My web-address will be posted on my Facebook, I hope you will follow me and forward the web-address to your friends who potentially may find the subject matter informative and hopefully provocative.

Let me profoundly state, I am not a professional writer and presently I write alone however, I do have a couple of proofreaders. If you would like to assist in this area your offer will be considered. After November 6, 2016, I pondered how I could potentially make a difference within this polarizing political landscape in which we find ourselves. What once was just a part-time hobby has been elevated into a committed seriousness and I hope you will join me on this journey. Yes, I find this to be the hardest political reality I’ve ever had to face if that is true for you; “Let’s get busy”!!!!

  1. Who would have thought this would be the state of affairs in 16/17? And it will likely be this way for the next 4 years. That society and people would be regressing and not going forward. Scientists are forever reaching forward, attempting to discover what has not been yet discovered. Stretching and testing our minds. Yet the unimaginable happened. Someone is in power who snubs and disregards knowledge and has taken society back many years. Millions of people in the US are shocked as are many around the world. I am Canadian and never believed this would happen in a country that the world has always been in awe of. This country that was a beacon for many. I must stop. One could go on forever. It needs to be told… to all people everywhere and on every corner. I look forward to more posts Warren. Keep telling it like it is.

  2. My lst reaction is to agreed wholeheartedly to what you are speaking on. Then as I think about it over and over again I begin to think 1) Is this a ploy to get some results backhandedly or 2) Is this a strategy to shake something up that benefits a certain group sort of you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours or 3) is this a foolhardy person that will tear America up and 4) will our President become a nationalist or an imperialist. Will he turn on the weak and make the strong stronger? All yet to be seen. Can’t quite get a grip on it to come to conclusions so I can take a healthy stand. I have some understanding of what is going on or is it simply staring me in the face and I’m missing it. We will have to wait and see . I myself will have to figure out where I stand in all of this and take a stand no matter how many issues there are. Like the Women’s March I saw the consolidation of many groups with their issues all under 1 roof . I believe we are going to have to join forces with many groups to gather up the power necessary to call our government to the forefront to hear our concerns and take action. Meanwhile continue on with the visions you see and the expectations you foresee for us all to bring the nation together again.

    1. Everyday this administration introduces additional evidence to it’s intent and purpose. The core of it’s make-up are control freaks on steroid not your normal control freak types politicians. Since the U. S. government’s inception it has always had 4 branches; Executive, Legislative, Judicial and Business. They worked hand and hand self serving each other well in the control of it’s people. This had been true up until the election of Herr Trump a businessman. His version of the 4 branches are Business, Executive, Legislative, Judicial. Every move by this administration either through the selection or appointment of directors has advantage Big Business, Banks and Wall St.
A Revolution just accrued right before our eyes and without firing a shot. I truly, pray the counter-revolution will accomplished the same without shots being fired however, it has been said “power corrupts absolutely absolute power corrupts absolutely. I personally believe they will use every means necessary to move forward their agenda. “Thanks for your thoughts”

  3. Warren by including the fourth branch in our democracy, business you provoke great thought . Business should and can be a win, win situation. But integrity is a critical ingredient . I pray for God’s wisdom to impact our leaders over the next four years. Keep espousing what you see and know people need to be aware.

    1. Yes, the concept of introducing Business into the process of governmental control was purposeful meant to provoke thought. The excepted 3 branches of governmental control:(Executive, Legelative, Judicial), were to be equal in their power for the purpose of providing checks and balances to protect against the abuse of power. The drafters of the blue print of American governmental control would not and did not include Business as a branch in the control process. They could not conceive of how business could be an equal component. There are very few checks and balances on American business as it’s founded in Capitalism. Therefore, to include it would have places equal limits on it’s power. The 3 branches of government were to provide the checks and balances on business we see how well that has worked out. We now have a billionaire President and 7 out of 8 members of his cabinet billionaires. Note: (2007 – The riches 1% of the American population owned 35% of the country’s wealth and the next 19% owned 51%. Thus the top 20% of Americans owned 85% of the country’s wealth and the bottom 80% of the population owned 15%.) Capitalism unbridled results in unbridled creed. Let me be clear, I do not place the blame at the feet of the government, however squarely at the feet of those being governed… The governed must intently get involved in the process by which they are being governed. Perhaps, the past election will spur them to do so if not except the resulting consequences…
